Bane is an interesting character. Initially, he’s one of the good guys, but then something happened… Smith (the military machine) got to him.

He has been infected by war. Constant exposure to military ways has changed him, he is no longer himself. He is the post war veteran, suffering from what is now called post traumatic stress disorder. All sense of rationality has gone as he turns into a psychopath that only wants one thing… an end to it all.
